Description

La bella ragazza. The Zagato Sport, which became famous as the “beautiful girl” was presented in 1958 at the Turin motor show and is the 3rd of 6 variants of the Lancia Flaminia. The beautiful coupé was designed by Fabio Luigi Rapi from Zagato. It has the “double bubble” roof which makes the Zagato creations so recognizable and a rounded aluminium body with pop-out handles.

The Flaminia Sport was offered in 3 model series over the years. The first version was fitted with a Solex triple carburetor. The enhanced models, which featured the so-called 3C engines, were fitted with an intake system that had three Weber twin-choke carburetors.

The II-nd Series with 2.8 3C set up is considered by many as the esthetically most pleasing design. It is interesting because it was the bridge series between the Sport and the Super Sport Series III cars. Out of the 70 Sports produced (type 826.132), 37 were converted to Super Sport, which means that the example presented here (chassis number 826.132.1002) is one of only 33 cars that are still in their original configuration.

This particular Lancia Flaminia Sport is still totally original and matching numbers, in the very attractive color combination of Argento Auteuil Metalizzato combined with black leather interior.
Its first owner was a French gentleman, Charles Latronche from Toulouse. He kept the Lancia until October 1980 when he sold it to his friend Jean-Claude Bajol. The car stayed in the same private collection for 32 years.

It was finally offered for sale in an Art Curial public auction in February 2012 and became the property of a Belgian Zagato car collector. The Belgian connoisseur asked for a FIVA Identity Card proving its matching numbers and decided to let the car be restored in its original configuration.
During the first quarter of 2014, the Flaminia Sport was totally restored “as new” by Marco Menini in Villa Guardia, Como. The hand-built aluminium body was completely disassembled and put back together.

The engine was entirely rebuilt. All mechanical parts (engine, carburetor, gearbox, suspension, braking system) were completely disassembled and restored in a strictly new condition. At the same time, the vehicle was repainted in its original color combination Argento Auteuil over black leather. The leather interior has remained original. The leather seat upholstery was completely dismantled, treated professionally, and pulled back over the (restored) chassis.
As a result, the current owner could benefit from a concours-state restored Lancia that fitted perfectly his collection and was ready to drive.

Available with the car: – The original documents (Belgian registration) – The history of ownership of the car, based on the previous registrations – A complete photo documentation of the restoration of the car – The original FIVA pass 2012 – The user’s manual & repair shop manual

The Flaminia Sport is much more than a fast-riding machine. It gives off an impression of refinement, quality, love for fine work. Every detail is a feast for the eyes for anyone who loves beautiful mechanics. For sure an opportunity to acquire a rare and original collector item, eligible for all the greatest historical rallyes.

– One of only 33 made in the world (826.132 series II) – restored in concours state – Original colour combination – Original and matching numbers – rare collector item – Most sought-after variant – eligible for the greatest historical rallyes
