The first prototype of the BMW Z1 dates back to 1986. When it was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1987, success was immediate. Only 8000 exemplars were produced between 1989 and 1991.
The roadster was designed for pleasure. It is very low (47 cm), long (4.14 m) and wide (1.75 m). The Z1 is featured with a 2.5-liter inline 6-cylinder petrol engine developing 170 hp at 5,750 rpm. It is the first model of the Z series standing for “Zukunft” or “Future” in German. Today, the Z1 is still considered a cult car with its unique design and its pocket doors opening downwards.
This particular exemplar is one of the latest produced and has a remarkable low mileage, showing only 15.900 Km on the counter. It was delivered new to Italy in 1991 and stayed in the hands of its first owner until 2009. The car was then sold to another Italian who kept it for 9 years. The last owner registered the car as an oldtimer in Spain and only drove it on special occasions.
This BMW Z1 is in very good state esthetically and mechanically. The body is painted in “BMW Traumschwarz- Metallic” black and does not show any scratches or damages, the soft top is still original and in excellent condition.
As shown on the pictures, the interior looks very good (except from a small stain on the driver’s seat hidden by the belt). The car is visible in our premises in Zaventem, 5 min away from the Brussels airport. Do not hesitate to pay us a visit or call us for more info.
