Description

This is a stunning example of the elegant Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark III, commonly known as the DB Mk III, produced between March 1957 and July 1959 in a limited run of only 551 units, of which just 85 were convertibles.

The DB Mk III is distinguished from other DB2 models by its grille, inspired by racing vehicles, which has since become a signature feature of Aston Martin and is now a hallmark on all subsequent models.

Its low production volume is explained by the fact that the DB Mk III was entirely hand-built, with each engine signed by its designer, and, most importantly, the model was sold in an almost confidential manner.

The 3-litre Lagonda engine was significantly enhanced by Tadek Marek, who joined Aston Martin in 1954 and would later create the iconic DB4. The DBA engine featured a new crankcase, redesigned intake and exhaust manifolds, new overhead camshafts, a new engine block, and an oil pump. Its distinctive, throaty sound evokes that of a race car, markedly different from other ‘Gran Turismo’ vehicles.

With a displacement of 2,922 cc and dual SU H4 carburetors, the DBA engine delivered 162 hp at 5,500 rpm, and an additional 16 hp on models equipped with dual exhausts, like the one presented here.

Our Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III is elegantly finished in Pacific Blue, which pairs beautifully with its grey-blue leather interior. Delivered with a manual transmission and right-hand drive by Aston Martin London in 1958, it is equipped with an original overdrive, an option only available on the “III B” models.

Cherished by two or three successive English owners, it underwent a full restoration in 2010. Following this, it was sold by Coys to its current owner, a passionate Belgian collector who has kept it in his collection for the past 14 years. With just over 98,000 miles on the clock, it is ready to take you on rallies or scenic getaways.
